Get ready to fall in love with this new standalone sports romance from New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr.
He’s the newly drafted quarterback.
Hot. Arrogant. Too sexy for words.
Ready to score.
I’m an athletic intern, and the coach’s daughter.
Driven. Determined. Prepared to conquer the world.
The NFL is full of rules. Rules I’ve never broken. Never challenged. Never even scratched–until the day Lucas Carrington crashes into my life with his hard body and I-don’t-give-a-f*ck attitude.
After I almost injure my father’s star player, I volunteer to make sure he’s in top shape. At first, it’s hell. I don’t like his cockiness, his easy smile. Don’t like the way he oozes sex. Or how his penetrating eyes follow me everywhere.
That doesn’t stop me from wanting him. He’s meant to be a distraction–something to occupy my mind for these precious few remaining hot summer nights before I’m forced to leave football behind forever.
I know what we’re doing will lead nowhere good. I know we’re crossing the line. And I know my father will never understand.
None of that matters.
But maybe it should.
Rules aren’t meant to be broken.
Or are they?
What happens when your father is one of the toughest coaches in the NFL? You date the new star player of course. Gillian grew up around football. She followed her dad when he was a player and later when he became a coach. She never needed a “normal” life. So here she is one last summer as an intern before she receives her doctorate in athletic training. She’s used to the players. They know the unspoken rule is hands off the coaches daughter. Gillian is okay with that until she bonks the new star player in the head. The chemistry hits them like a ton of bricks right off the bat.
Lucas Carrington has just been drafted by the Chicago Bears. Not his first choice because he’s dying to get out of Chicago and escape his unstable childhood. He’s Nick’s brother. (For Nick & Tesses’ story check out Sexy Jerk) He wasn’t enthusiastic about The Chicago Bears. He had one of those “pissy” attitudes until Gillian bonked him with the water cart. Throughout camp Lucas becomes more and more appreciative and enthusiastic. Gillian may have helped with that a bit.
Hot football player + Sexy coach’s daughter= a great forbidden romance. Yes, they have to sneak around because Gillian’s the forbidden cookie in the jar. Nick is the charming main character who not only doesn’t want to jeopardize his own career, but Jillian’s as well. They can’t resist eachother. They finally say screw it and continue to get closer. They want to break it to Gillian’s father after football camp. Nick wants that professional contract badly.
Gillian is quite likeable. She’s not the “goody goody girl.” She’s willing to jeopardize it all for love! I started to pull for them. Her father wants her to have a “normal life,” but Gillian doesn’t know “normal.” She wants a life with Nick. The forbidden cookie doesn’t want extra icing, she just wants to be the cookie. Can Nick give her that, who knows?
Another hot story with a great plotline and enough sexy parts to keep me drawn in. I can’t resist Kim’s books. They’re always told so well. Do I recommend Hot Stuff? Yes Yes Yes!
Disappointed, she unwrapped her arms from her body, and then pivoted on her toe in the direction of the open door. “Then it looks like we have nothing further to discuss, Lucas.”
I reached for her and tugged her to me. “I don’t want to want you,” I breathed, my mouth hovering just centimeters from hers.
Gillian tried to pull away, but not whole-heartedly. If she wanted me to let her go, I would have, but I knew she didn’t. “Then stop,” she sighed.
I took her face in my hands. “I can’t. I don’t know how to.”
“Neither do I,” she whispered.
Unable to stop myself, I crashed my lips to hers and drove my tongue into her mouth to retrace every inch that I had explored days ago
I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I’ve always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.
I wear a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of the family. However, I always find time to read.
I love little black dresses, black high heels, and red lipstick. I like to believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I love to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.
I hope you enjoy reading these books as much as I enjoyed writing them.
